Lee Jung-shin is heading back to the small screen, and his next character sounds almost too perfect to be real. The CNBLUE member has officially joined MBN’s upcoming romance drama What a Boss Wants, where he will play a pediatrician with looks, personality, and a wealthy family background. The drama is currently scheduled to premiere in November 2026.
In the new drama, Lee Jung-shin takes on the role of Moon Tae-kyung, a doctor who seems to have everything going for him. He is handsome, well-mannered, professionally successful, and comes from a privileged family, making him the kind of character who could easily steal attention from the main couple. That polished image could also create some interesting tension once the romance starts getting complicated.
The story itself revolves around Kwon Do-hyuk, a chaebol boss played by Sung Hoon, whose life looks almost perfectly controlled. Things suddenly take an unexpected turn when he hears the voice of a mysterious woman on an album and becomes determined to find her. His search eventually leads him to Lee Eun-chae, an indie band vocalist played by Oh Se-young, who becomes the one person capable of disrupting his carefully organized world.
That setup already gives the drama a pretty fun romantic hook, but Moon Tae-kyung could make things even more complicated. As the seemingly perfect pediatrician, Lee Jung-shin’s character has the kind of background that makes him a natural rival in a romance story. With Kwon Do-hyuk and Lee Eun-chae at the center, Tae-kyung’s presence could add another layer of tension once their relationships begin to develop.
For Lee Jung-shin, the role is another chance to show that his career goes far beyond the stage. The CNBLUE bassist and rapper has continued to build his acting career alongside his music activities, taking on roles in dramas such as Cinderella with Four Knights, My First Love, Shooting Stars, and The Escape of the Seven. Now, stepping into the shoes of a pediatrician gives him yet another character to add to that growing list.
The casting announcement also comes just days after Sung Hoon was confirmed as the drama’s male lead. Sung Hoon will play Kwon Do-hyuk, an entertainment company CEO and AI genius whose cold charisma hides a much lonelier side. Oh Se-young will star opposite him as Lee Eun-chae, making the central romance one of the biggest things to watch when the series arrives.
Interestingly, Oh Se-young is also entering the project with plenty of momentum. Her previous lead role reportedly achieved a 13.6 percent viewership rating, and What a Boss Wants marks her first project since that drama ended in February. With Sung Hoon and Lee Jung-shin now joining her, the new series is quickly putting together a cast that could make this romantic story worth keeping an eye on.
What a Boss Wants is based on a web novel of the same name and is expected to bring together romance, music, and the glamorous world of chaebol families. The combination of a mysterious voice, an ambitious CEO, an indie vocalist, and an impossibly perfect pediatrician gives the drama plenty of ingredients for a messy love story. With its November premiere approaching, more details about the characters and their relationships are likely to make the wait even more interesting.
